Item/Lanternfish
Lanternfish is a food item and brewing ingredient that can be eaten or cooked in a furnace, smoker, or campfire to make Cooked Lanternfish. It is eaten quickly similarly to dried kelp.
Obtaining
Mob loot
Lanternfish are the only mob to always drop 1 Lanternfish in its item form upon death. The maximum amount cannot be increased with Looting. If killed while on fire, they drop Cooked Lanternfish instead.
Chest loot
Abyssal Ruins occasionally generating within the Abyssal Chasm have loot chests with a 5.4% chance to contain Lanternfish.
Usage
Food
Similarly to most other food items, pressing and holding down right-click while holding a Lanternfish in its item form will make you begin eating it. Eating it will restore 1 (
) hunger and 0.35 hunger saturation.
A player can consume Lanternfish about twice as fast as most food items in the game.
Crafting ingredient
Lanternfish in their item form are needed to craft Deep Sea Sushi Rolls.
