Combat

Holding a Cinder Brick and using it will throw it. There is no charging time or cooldown for firing them, meaning they can be thrown as fast as the player can click.

Similarly to other projectiles, they are affected by gravity. However, they are not thrown nearly as far as snowballs or eggs, but are still thrown further than splash potions. They're also thrown with a more upward trajectory similar to that of an Ink Bomb or Glow Ink Bomb.

When coming into contact with a mob, it will deal 3♥♥ damage to it along with some knockback before breaking due to the impact.

When fighting the ender dragon, end crystals are able to be destroyed by cinder bricks thrown at them.

Cinder Bricks, like other projectiles, can be used to distract a warden. A warden walks towards the location where the brick lands, inspecting it, giving time for the player to escape. However, other projectiles are much more recommended for this purpose, due to the limited range of a thrown cinder brick.

Mining

If a Cinder Brick is thrown but hits a block instead of a mob, it will instantly break the block if its hardness value is 4.5 or less.

If the Cinder Brick hits a block with a hardness value above 4.5 or a block that is unmineable in survival or adventure mode, the block will not be broken.

Dispensers

Cinder Bricks can be fired from dispensers at a range further than the player can throw. The range a cinder brick is thrown from a dispenser is similar to that of a snowball or egg launched from a dispenser.
