Resistor Shield
The Resistor Shield is a unique variant of shield that is used to block damage from oncoming attacks or explosions while simultaneously doing continuous damage and knockback to foes in a small radius. Just like regular shields, they can be temporarily disabled by getting hit with an axe and some attacks completely bypass them altogether. Unlike regular shields, banners cannot be applied to Resistor Shields.
Obtaining
Crafting
Resistor Shields require a Heart of Iron, which can only be obtained by slaying the powerful Magnetron.

Repairing
Ingredients | Crafting recipe | Description |
---|---|---|
Damaged Resistor Shield | The durability of the two resistor shields is added together, plus an extra 5% durability. |
Resistor Shields may also be repaired on an anvil by using Azure Neodymium Ingots, Scarlet Neodymium Ingots, or another resistor shield. Grindstones may also be used in place of anvils, but resistor shields will only be able to be repaired with other resistor shields.
Usage
Resistor Shields behave, deflect, and disable the exact same ways that regular shields do when used for defending.

Special properties
Violent slam
When a Resistor Shield is first used, it will play a simple spinning animation before violently slamming either its azure or scarlet neodymium pole onto the ground. This violent slam will deal an instantaneous 6 damage to all mobs or players except for the user in a 5 block spherical radius.
Resistor Shields lose 1 durability each time they slam onto the ground, along with them losing a scaling amount of durability depending on how strong a blocked attack was.
Electrical currents
After the shield has slammed onto the ground, azure or scarlet electrical currents will start being emitted in all horizontal directions. The color of the current depends on which pole has touched ground, and determines whether it pushes mobs away or pulls mobs closer. No matter the color, the currents will do a continuous 2 damage to any mob or player except for the user in a 5 block range.
- Azure Electrical Currents will generate from the user and travel away from them, signifying that it will deal knockback and push entities away.
- Scarlet Electrical Currents will generate in a horizontal 5 block circular radius away from the user and travel towards them, signifying that it will pull entities closer.
Switching poles
If holding your sneak button before blocking with the resistor shield, it will change which pole will slam onto the ground. You can also see what pole will be activated as it will glow and be placed at the bottom of shield. A new resistor shield that has never been changed before will have the azure neodymium pole slam by default.
Enchantments
All weapons and tools added by Alex's Caves have unique enchantments that exclusively only apply to them. Unlike regular enchantments, these ones by default (without changing config settings) do not increase the pool of enchantments you can receive from any loot tables, and instead can only be obtained from enchanting the exclusive item they apply to in an Enchanting Table.
The Resistor Shield has two exclusive enchantments.
Arrow Inducting
Rare enchantment that makes arrows deflected from the Resistor Shield turn into Seeking Arrows. These arrows can be collected by the player if they don't manage to hit their target. Does not have any higher level besides I.
Heavy Slam
Rare enchantment that increases initial slam damage dealt by the Resistor Shield by 3 damage per level. Has levels from I-III.
