Pearl
Pearls are valuable items that are occasionally dropped when breaking Mussels. These commodities are primarily used to barter and exchange for goods with the Deep One society.
Obtaining
Mining
Mussels have a 10% chance of dropping one Pearl when broken. Breaking a Mussel with a tool enchanted with Fortune increases its chance dropping a Pearl: 15% with Fortune I, 20% with Fortune II, and 30% with Fortune III.
Chest loot
Abyssal Ruins occasionally generating within the Abyssal Chasm have loot chests with a 5.4% chance to contain Pearls.

Usage
Bartering
If a Pearl is placed on an Abyssal Altar, any Deep One within a 64 block radius will swim towards it and grab the Pearl once close enough to the altar. After a few seconds, the Deep One will place an item of their own in exchange for the Pearl, activating the altar once doing so.
The item exchanged for the Pearl depends on what type of Deep One bartered with you, with each variant of Deep One giving their own special items:
- Regular Deep Ones may give you various miscellaneous items such as kelp, sponges and rarely a Gazing Pearl. (For a full list of items and chances you can receive from bartering with a regular Deep One see: Deep_One#Bartering).
- Deep One Knights may give you items mostly centered around weaponry and equipment, such as Ink Bombs, tridents, and rarely either a Magic Conch or Ortholance. (For a full list of items and chances you can receive from bartering with a Deep One Knight see: Deep_One_Knight#Bartering).
- Deep One Mages may give you rather precious items or items related to magic, such as lapis lazuli, Glow Ink Bomb, and rarely a Sea Staff. (For a full list of items and chances you can receive from bartering with a Deep One Mage see: Deep_One_Mage#Bartering).
Crafting ingredient
If pearls are not used for bartering with the Deep Ones, they can be used to craft an Abyssal Altar or compacted into a Block of Pearl.
