Usage

Weapon

Like regular bows, the Dreadbow can be drawn back and fired if the player holds down right-click and releases it afterwards - only if they have at least one arrow of any kind in their inventory or are in creative mode. Charging up the Dreadbow will also slightly zoom in its wielder's display and force the player to move at sneaking speed unless they are riding another mob or flying with an elytra, all as if they were using a regular bow.

Unlike regular bows however, the Dreadbow will need to be drawn back for at least 2 seconds to be fully charged - creating particles of dark magic around its user when doing so. If the Dreadbow is loading a regular arrow, it will begin imbuing it with its dark magic properties and eventually convert it into a Shadowy Arrow, a variant of arrow exclusive to the Dreadbow. Once an arrow has been fired from a Dreadbow, it will be duplicated and rained down from a maximum height of 15 blocks above the user's targeted location or entity if it is less than 128 blocks away. If the Dreadbow is fired at nothing, it will summon its arrows to rain down only 42 blocks away. If there is no empty space directly above its target, the Dreadbow will summon its arrows to swarm around its targeted location and hit it from all sides. The Dreadbow will lose 1 durability each time it is used to summon or shoot arrows.

When a Dreadbow is loading an arrow, the arrow will be rendered by its 3D appearance and pulled back with a smooth animation. A Dreadbow loading a non-regular arrow will also render it as that specific arrow's 3D appearance, however it's loading item sprite will still remain appearing to load a shadowy arrow.

The charge of the Dreadbow determines how many arrows will be duplicated and volleyed at enemies, with a fully charged Dreadbow capable of raining down exactly 30 shadowy arrows or 8 of any other variant of arrow. If a non-regular arrow was shot by a Dreadbow, one of the duplicated arrows will be able to be picked up from the ground by the player.

3D model of a Shadowy Arrow

Shadowy Arrow

Shadowy Arrows share many of the same characteristics as regular arrows. See mcw:Arrow#Common properties for information on common properties shared by all arrows.

Special properties

Shadowy Arrows will always deal 3♥♥ damage no matter the velocity they're travelling unless they're shot by a Dreadbow enchanted with Precise Volley. However to compensate for this low damage, Shadowy Arrows will completely bypass the immunity frames of hurt mobs, meaning they can damage targets infinitely fast. Once a Shadowy Arrow hits the ground or an entity, it will immediately despawn and leave nothing behind.

Shadowy Arrows are also known as Dark Arrows by their entity name and entity ID.

Enchantments

All weapons and tools added by Alex's Caves have unique enchantments that exclusively only apply for them. Unlike regular enchantments, these ones by default (without changing config settings) do not increase the pool of enchantments you can receive from any loot tables, and instead can only be obtained from enchanting the exclusive item they apply to in an Enchanting Table.

The Dreadbow has 5 exclusive enchantments.

Precise Volley

Rare enchantment that drastically improves accuracy of summoned arrows from Dreadbows, at the expense of each Shadowy Arrow only dealing 2♥ damage. Does not have any higher level besides I. Incompatible with Relentless Darkness Enchantment.

Dark Nock

Rare enchantment that decreases time taken for Dreadbow to reach max charge, with an extra 0.4 second decrease per level. Has levels from I-III. Incompatible with Relentless Darkness Enchantment.

Relentless Darkness

Very rare enchantment that completely changes ability of the Dreadbow. The Dreadbow will fire arrows from its user instead of the sky at an incredibly fast rate of 0.25 seconds per arrow. The user will also not have to let go of their use button when firing and will shoot 1-2 shadowy arrows at a time when firing regular arrows. Does not have any higher level besides I. Incompatible with Precise Volley, Dark Nock, and Twilight Perfection Enchantments.

Twilight Perfection

Rare enchantment that grants Dreadbow quick timeframe to suddenly glow red after fully charging, with a base 0.2 second timeframe and an extra 0.15 seconds added to base duration per level higher than I. If the Dreadbow fires shadowy arrows during this glowing state, each arrow will glow a similar shade of red and deal twice the amount of damage they would normally. Has levels from I-III. Incompatible with Relentless Darkness Enchantment.

Shaded Respite

Very rare enchantment that stops Dreadbow from consuming durability and regular arrows if fired in light levels 11 and below. Does not have any higher level besides I.
