The Hood and Cloak of Darkness are a duo of items that grant the wearer powers of darkness when worn together.

The Hood and Cloak of Darkness both require Shadow Silk and Occult Gems to make, which are both obtained only from slaying powerful enemies that summon from sacrificial Underzealot rituals.

The durability of the two cloaks of darkness is added together, plus an extra 5% durability.

The durability of the hoods of darkness is added together, plus an extra 5% durability.

Both the Hood and Cloak of Darkness may also be repaired on an anvil or grindstone with another Hood or Cloak of Darkness respectively.

Usage

Due to the Hood and Cloak of Darkness having entirely different models compared to regular armor, they both cannot be trimmed with smithing templates.

Protection values

Simply wearing both the Hood and Cloak of Darkness together will grant more defense than an entire suit of leather armor.

Special properties

When having both the Hood and Cloak of Darkness equipped simultaneously, a meter above the hotbar of its wearer will appear. This meter will gradually fill up over time if the wearer is under light levels 11 or less, seeming to depict a bleak red eye. After completely filling up, the meter will begin to glow an eminating red with its central pupil glowing a bright white if the player is still in these permissible light levels, signifying the Hood and Cloak's special ability is ready to be used. If the player is not under these light levels, the meter will return or continue being a bleak red color.

When the meter is completely full and glowing, pressing G will effect the user with Darkness Incarnate for 10 seconds and hide the meter. If the wearer is not in light levels of 11 or less, the meter's special ability cannot be activated, and will alert the user of their mistake with a simple yet ominous message stating "You cannot use this ability in the light..."

Once the wearer of the Hood and Cloak of Darkness is no longer under the effects of Darkness Incarnate, the armor set's meter will appear again - completely empty and needing to be filled up again.
