Spelunkery Table Research
Once you have found a Spelunkery Table and some Cave Tablets, you can begin the process of researching the strange inscriptions on the tablet. Make sure you either secure the area the Spelunkery Table is in, or move it somewhere else! Researching can take quite a while, and progress will be lost if interrupted. Before you begin researching, make sure to have paper on hand. If you have never successfully completed research in the spelunkery table, small exclamation points in the interface will give you general directions.
Once both tablet and paper are in the left and right bottom slots respectively, the tablet's inscriptions will appear on the screen and you can begin the translation minigame.
You begin each level of translation with 5 guesses. If you run out of guesses, all progress is lost and the tablet is destroyed. Naturally, since you do not know any of the words or language present on the tablet, you must spend your first try on a complete guess. Click any of the symbols on the screen to use a guess. Words that you guessed incorrectly will become greyed out.
Now that a guess has been made, the magnifying lens in the right lower corner can be dragged over the guessed word. This will reveal the translation of this specific guessed word.
By using the lens over a word, you can find which symbols pertain to which letters, and with some luck, have some letters matching the word you are searching for. You can use your remaining 4 guesses to attempt to reveal more symbols you don't understand, or attempt to guess the exact word. When you only have one guess remaining, the tablet will appear cracked. Although you can make your own mental cipher for this task, you could also see the translation cipher to the right...
Once the correct word has been selected, the level will complete! The tab will reset and you must complete the process over again for a cumulative three levels in order to translate the tablet.
Once the minigame is complete, the paper and tablet will be consumed, and a Cave Codex pertaining to the biome of the tablet will be produced in the slot on the right.
