Sweetish Fish are common bucketable passive aquatic mobs found in the Candy Cavity. They swim through Purple Soda, and serve as a conspicuous food source.

Cave Compendium Entry

"The Sweetish Fish is one of many curious creatures found dwelling in the Candy Cavity, although this unique fish is the only one seen to swim through the underground rivers and bottles of Purple Soda. Like other animals in this biome, it seems to be a construct made of living candy. And, just like other gelatinous creatures, it comes in multiple color variations. Sweetish Fish can be captured in a Bucket of Soda. If slain and cooked, a Sweetish Fish will turn into Gelatin, a common crafting ingredient."

Spawning

Sweetish Fish spawn in still bodies of Purple Soda in the Candy Cavity, in groups of 1-3.

Behavior

Sweetish Fish will randomly swim around in abrupt dashes - when not swimming, they will slowly sink to the bottom of the water. They can also swim through water, behaving no differently from how they would in Purple Soda.

Sweetish Fish cannot survive outside of Purple Soda or water. If outside of either of those fluids, they will spasmodically flop around on their sides in an attempt to jump back in, taking 2♥ suffocation damage every second after 20 seconds.

Players can pick up Sweetish Fish with a Purple Soda Bucket, giving them a Bucket of Sweetish Fish. Sweetish Fish placed with buckets do not despawn naturally. When a Bucket of Sweetish Fish is used against a block, it empties the bucket, placing Purple Soda with that Sweetish Fish swimming in it.

As creatures of candy, Sweetish Fish are able to fall on Sugar Glass without breaking it.

History

Trivia

  • Sweetish Fish are based on Swedish Fish, with their name having been changed very slightly to avoid implying that Sweden is a real location within the Minecraft universe.
  • Sweetish Fish use similar sounds to the vanilla fish, albeit slightly pitched up in addition to having been underlaid with cartoony bouncing sounds.
